Tanabe Ogigahama Beach

Tanabe Ogigahama Beach is a beautiful family beach located in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. Engetsu Island

Engetsuto is a beautiful small island in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, and is a beloved symbol of Shirahama. Its official name is "Takashima," and it is an uninhabited island measuring approximately 130 meters north to south, 35 meters east to west, and 25 meters high. There is a moon-shaped hole in the center of the island, and its unique shape is the origin of its name. It is particularly famous as a spectacular spot to view sunsets, and has been selected as one of the "100 Best Sunsets in Japan." In spring and autumn, you can see the moment when the setting sun fits perfectly into the hole, creating a fantastical sight.

Toretore Market

Toretore Market Nanki Shirahama, located in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, is one of the largest seafood markets in western Japan. Operated by the Katata Fisheries Cooperative, it offers a wide selection of fresh seafood and Kishu specialties. Inside the market, you can enjoy events such as tuna cutting shows, and you can even BBQ the seafood you purchase on the spot. There are also plenty of restaurants serving fresh seafood such as seafood bowls and sushi, making it extremely popular with tourists. In the souvenir corner, you can also purchase local specialties and famous products unique to Wakayama.

Ryujin Hot Springs

Ryujin Onsen is a hot spring resort located in Ryujin Village, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, and is known as one of Japan's three most beautiful hot springs. It has a history of approximately 1,300 years, and is said to have been opened by Kobo Daishi after he received a revelation in a dream from Nanda Dragon King. The water is a sodium bicarbonate spring (sodium bicarbonate spring), which is known for its excellent skin-beautifying properties and leaves the skin feeling moisturized. It is said to be effective for treating sensitivity to cold, neuralgia, stiff shoulders, and more, and soaking in the hot spring will refresh both body and mind. There is also an open-air bath where you can bathe while gazing at the mountain stream, allowing you to spend a luxurious time surrounded by nature.

Sandanbeki is a magnificent cliff about 50 meters high and stretching about 2 kilometers from north to south, located in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture. This place is known as a scenic natural spot where you can enjoy the dynamic sight of waves crashing against the rock face. It has also been certified as a "Lovers' Sanctuary," and the observation deck is decorated with a heart-shaped monument and a pink mailbox, creating a romantic atmosphere. In addition, 36 meters underground is the Sandanbeki Cave, which you can descend by elevator and tour. Inside the cave, you can observe the powerful waves crashing in up close and enjoy historical exhibits.
